« Toward 1160, Maurice de Sully wanted to erect a single church…He decided to use a style being developed at this time in the Ile de France, the Gothic.
The first stone of the chancel was laid in 1163 and it was finished in 1182. The nave was constructed beginning with the facade, from 1190 to 1220. The facade was finished in 1225. The towers were completed in 1250 »
