architecture du Centre Pompidou

I am post-graduate research student at the Royal College of Art in the History of Design department. I am currently engaged in new research into the history and design of new museums in Britain, Europe and Latin America. I am particularly interested in the Paris’ Centre George Pompidou-Beaugourg because it is a really impressive building within a medieval urban fabric. Its post-modern high-tech architecture makes it an unique and extraordinary example of how a museum could transform an improve a derelict neighbourhood. What I would like to ask you is if you could inform me about the documentation related to the building since its early moments as an idea of President Georges Pompidou until the construction itself. I am really interested in any kind of documents regarding the first reports, the launching of the international competition for designing the building, the Committee’s decisions and minutes about the projects selected and, of course, if you keep the record of the architectural plans, models, photograhps, correspondences exchanged between Renzo Piano and Richard Rogres with the Committee responsible for planning and developing the Museum and its site. I am intending to plan a trip to Paris to consult your archives, but if you could provide me some info, I will be able to plan my trip in order to have enough time to search all these material. Thank you for your attention Sincerely yours, Ana Beatriz da Rocha
