To find the answer of your question, I made a research into the online catalog of the Bpi (http//www.bpi.fr/recherche_documentaire.jsp>, there is an English version) which owns a book dedicated to the photography collection of the Musée d’Art Moderne in the Centre Pompidou. The Musée d’art moderne always counted photographs among its collections, nevertheless a real acquisition policy only appeared in the beginning of the 1980’s. Now the photography collection is composed of more than 70 000 pictures.
